Rene Laloux, a french animator and director.

He studied painting and worked in advertising initially. He got a job in a psychiatric institution and made his first film with some interns, Monkey’s Teeth. His works are largely inspired by the unconsciousness and the surreal, such as this film with giant monster escargots as the antagonists of the old farmer. Who had shed his tears for his cabbage fields. Peculiarly familiar with the chinese proverb of shedding blood and tears for money.
